Election Night coverage for 2024, coordinating between reporters live in the field and photographers to make sure we used our resources effectively.
It was always fun when candidates came to town! It required me to be flexible and adaptable. The plan was to take Harris's speech live for a short time then our live reporter, but not everything happens to plan when you're doing it live! Harris wrapped up quicker than anticipated, which meant writing a script for anchors to read on the fly as she left. Our reporter in the field also had to move since she finished speaking, so he couldn't make his hit time. All these changes had to be communicated quickly, and under pressure, with production staff, anchors and reporters to make sure everything was clean on air.
Adding a story about new research and other environmental topics to my newscasts is important to me!
